Autumn daze

The last couple of days have been a happy, giggling, whirling blur. Filled with friends both new and old, laughter and new jokes which were endless and genuine, wine, food and rugby.

A glow has surrounded me since Friday – a glow which comes from being around people I like, admire, trust and whose company I enjoy, a glow which fills me with hope for the long winter months ahead.

What was so special about it? Nothing, really, on the face of it. A pumpkin carving get together fueled by red wine and artistic differences, a Hallowe’en party with cat women, flappers, Obelix, runaway brides and Chilean miners. A lunch, filled with dissecting the previous evening and talk that was filthy enough to make a sailor blush. Watching “our boys” win over local rivals on a cold and crisp autumn day followed by a relaxed couple of pints in the pub.

Nothing special and yet, something amazing. Amazing because I didn’t think I could have more fun than I did earlier this year. Amazing because I did. Amazing because I’m now confident that more fun is yet to come.

The new camera made an outing and, whereas in the past I’ve never really got compliments on my photographic skills, I’m hoping that, with new friends and new opportunities, the compliments will flow.

Fab. It takes a while in somewhere new doesn’t it? Until the weekends become something to relish and not be slightly intimidated by? Well done you.
