Happy Christmas!

Believe it or not but Miss Cow (that’s me) is quite an organised beast.

I like to write lists. I like things to go the way I plan (in other words, I like to have things my own way). I like things to be done in a timely manner.

You can therefore imagine my disconcertion yesterday when I walked into Tescos and saw two huge aisles dedicated to Christmas.

It’s September people. September.

*grumble*

  1. Hmmm, I couldn’t agree more. I got home from my SUMMER holiday on Sunday, and met the same sight in my local Sainsbury’s the next day. WtF?!

  2. Do you know what? I really like Christmas and don’t mind the early prep. It doesn’t have anything to do with religion. New York City gets all gussied up with glittery decorations like a two-bit whore and people seem a bit nicer than they are in August. I don’t mind.

In mid-July, just before the long school break, I took my grandson to Tesco, where he was shocked and horrified by the placards – “Back To School”.
I really think that stores, large and small should try to realign their calendars with the rest of us, to some degree at least.

    Christmas?? Nooooooo!

I love th build up – providing it is limited to mid Nov onwards….

Or maybe I’ll have to give in and start humming carols right now.

  5. Robbie says:

How much Christmas ‘stuff’ did you pick up on that shopping trip?

  6. LizSara says:

I agree and want to kick all the advent calendars i see between now and November.

    jingle Bells, jingle bells

  7. Wee-H says:

Does that mean i can start buying variety packs of chocolate again? yippee.

  8. red says:

eek. they don’t even do that in LA- at the moment it’s all about halloween.

  9. L.C.T. says:

Arrrgh I noticed that too. I’m with you on the grumbling with this one!

  10. Paiula says:

Yes and Boots is the same. Although that came in handy yday when I was looking for a birthday present and bought one of the nice Soap and Glory gift packs on the christmas shelves. I kinda felt like i was cheating but who cares??? It made MY life easier . . .

PC – Close your eyes and walk on by PC. It’ll all be ok. Breathe in. Breathe out.

UB – *shudder* I don’t mind the “everyone is nice” thing but I do mind decorations when I’m still dreaming about the summer.

Stegg – I’m completely with you. I think they just believe they’re “ahead of the game”. We all think they’re evil!

Mud – don’t do it. The next thing you know they’ll be playing on the radio and then you know we’re all done for.

Robbie – I was surprisingly restrained and settled for running out of the store screaming.

LizSara – kick them… or eat them?

Wee-H – you can but surely just buying the ones you like is easier? Variety packs always have that one chocolate that no one actually likes.

Red – No Hallowe’en madness here Red. And just think – you’ve got Thanksgiving to come yet too!

LCT – I am glad I’m not the only one who is all Scrooge at this time of year!

Paiula – ok, so there is that but still. September?
