So… how did you two meet?

I decided to make my own “meme”. Because I can.

1. Get your phone
2. Go to the address book
3. Look away.
4. Press any key up to three times.
5. Scroll down three times.
6. Look at the name there, tell the world about them.
7. Pass it on to three people.

Isabelle

I met Isabelle randomly one sunny summer’s afternoon. We were all outside a pub in Central London waiting for the hunt to begin. I’d never been before. Around me an eclectic mix of people stood, chatting, drinking Pimms. An old woman with her dogs, a young man in full hunting regalia, a couple of students, some tourists – taking pictures. The sun beat down. Lazy buzzing emanated from hanging baskets as bumblebees slowly and sporadically danced between flowers.

N and I stood to the side, watching. Taking it all in. Quietly talking to each other. Pointing out people, things, moments.

“Hi” a voice beside us said. I turned to see her, a mop of almost-tamed curly blonde hair. Open face, smiling eyes. “I’m Isabelle. Is this your first time here?”

The conversation ebbed and flowed. Laughter. Silence. Snippets of information shared. Her husband, slightly quieter, slightly shyer, stood to one side and talked rugby with N, also slightly quieter, slightly shyer. The two girls gossiped. We collapse into relaxed rapport.

And now? Her life has moved. Physically – up to Yorkshire – and mentally – on the arrival of a beautiful baby girl.  An occassional email. A phone call. A text message. An offer of a place to stay. But still the friendship is there. Waiting.

Passing it on to:
